Contemporary craftsmanship in dialogue with Gaudí’s architecture
Within the original interiors of Casa Batlló, brought back to life through a meticulous restoration, Paola Navone – OTTO Studio introduces a contemporary layer where colour, materials, furnishings and artisanal craftsmanship engage in a harmonious dialogue with Gaudí’s extraordinary architectural language.
For the Salon Gaudí, the main living room of the restored Third Floor, Illulian created two bespoke rugs designed by Paola Navone – OTTO Studio and exclusively handcrafted for Casa Batlló. Conceived as an integral part of the interior, the rugs become tactile and chromatic elements that define the space while enhancing its poetic and timeless atmosphere.
Handcrafted by skilled artisans in wool and silk, using natural vegetable dyes, each rug is a unique expression of Illulian’s craftsmanship. An intense palette of pink, burgundy and crimson is framed by a refined green border in natural silk, creating a sophisticated material and chromatic connection with the furnishings and the organic forms of Gaudí’s architecture.
A celebration of contemporary design, exceptional materials and artisanal mastery, where different eras and sensibilities meet in perfect harmony — allowing Gaudí’s legacy to be not only preserved, but experienced through a new and contemporary vision.
